Virus

A computer virus is a type of malicious software program designed to disrupt the normal functioning of a computer system.
Just like a biological virus that spreads from one person to another, a computer virus spreads from one device to another through infected files, emails, USB drives, or downloads. Viruses can damage data, slow down performance, or even make a system unusable.

Types of Computer Viruses

1. File Infector Virus – Attaches itself to executable files and spreads when the file is run.
2. Macro Virus – Targets applications like MS Word or Excel by infecting macro commands.
3. Boot Sector Virus – Infects the master boot record of a hard drive, making it difficult to remove.
4. Polymorphic Virus – Changes its code each time it runs, making it hard to detect.
5. Worms – Unlike normal viruses, worms can spread without human action, often through networks.

Introduction

A computer virus is a type of malicious program that can damage a computer system, steal information, or stop it from working properly.

It works in a way similar to a biological virus — spreading from one file, program, or computer to another. Viruses usually enter a system through infected email attachments, unsafe downloads, or external devices like USB drives.

How It Works

When a virus-infected file is opened, the virus becomes active. It may delete or corrupt files, slow down the system, show unwanted messages, or even allow hackers to access personal data.
Some viruses spread silently, while others immediately start causing problems.
